RSPB Bempton have once again come up with some magnificent treats for the youngsters over the summer holidays.
During August RSPB Bempton will be running activities on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday especially for younger visitors. These include
Big Birds and Mini Beasts
Join the team at RSPB Bempton Cliffs to explore the cliff tops and take a closer look at the Britain’s largest seabird, the gannet, with its six foot wing span and long, pointy beak.
Then get up close and personal with the smallest creatures on the reserve, the brilliant bugs that are so small we usually don’t even notice them. Examine them under a magnifying glass and learn all about their wriggly ways.
This is to be held on every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in August between 10 am and 4pm.
The RSPB Bempton Team will be on hand to help the young enthusiasts to
- Get creative at Arts and crafts in the ‘Make It’ marquee;
- Be amazed by the Moth and amphibian display tanks – see what comes out at night on and around the nature reserve;
- Follow the signs and do the quiz in your very own DIY Nature Trail; and,
- Not forgetting the “Big Birds and Mini Beasts” guided walk twice daily at 11.00am and 2.00pm.
The Big Birds and Mini Beasts walk is a snip at only £3.00 per child (free for RSPB members and adults) and look if you want to do the other activities they are all free. Whats best, you don’t need to plan when you are going to do it, if you want to just turn up fine as no booking is necessary.
Meanwhile, as the puffins are still with us, RSPB Bempton are continuing Puffin Patrols for as long as possible. Once our most popular seabird finally disappears we’ll be running Gazing at Gannets Patrols at 2pm every weekday with an additional patrol at 11am on Saturday and Sunday.
