Bridlington Old Town Heritage Day is nearly upon us. The date 13th September 2014 is the date in your diaries for a magnificent day of history and entertainment.
The 13th September will be a magnificent day up in the Bridlington Old Town with the day commencing at 10am with an opening cry by the effervescent award winning Bridlington Town Cryer David Hinde.
The beautiful Priory Church will be open all day from 10am until 4pm for visitors to marvel at the wonderful ‘Lamb of God’ woodcarving at the Church Gate.
During the day there will be guided tours of the Priory Church in the Bridlington Old Town kicking off at 10.30am. These are free guided tours. Additional to this there is also free entry into the Bayle Gate museum from 11am to 4pm.
Have you ever seen a Blacksmiths at work? Well this is a massive opportunity with Blacksmiths Workshops available from 10am to noon and then from 2pm to 4pm – or why not just come along and watch on the day – you will be amazed at the ancient craft of Blacksmith work.
Further Guided tours of the Priory Church are available in the afternoon from 2.30pm with the ‘Heritage Day’ finally closing its doors at 4pm.
BUT – there is still more to see and do . . . . . . . . .
The Bridlington Old Town now has many ‘Blue Plaques’ of points of interest on the walls of many of the houses and properties. A brand new Old Town Trail leaflet will be available during the day – so why not pick one up and follow the trail around the Bridlington Old Town following the Heritage signs around the Bridlington Old Town.
Do not miss out on the Proms in the Priory though with the Frickley Colliery Band at 7pm in the Priory Church for a great wind up of the day.
And don’t forget the Galleries, Craft Shops and Tea Rooms for a bit of relaxation and retail therapy.
